Director of Children’s Behavioral Health and Member Services

Association for Behavioral Healthcare, Inc. (ABH), a statewide association representing community-based mental health and addiction treatment organizations throughout Massachusetts is seeking candidates to fill the position of Director of Children’s Behavioral Health and Member Services. 


Position Responsibilities: 


Children’s Behavioral Health 

  • Acts as ABH point person on the Children's Behavioral Health Initiative (CBHI), Caring Together initiative, and other DMH (child only) and DCF services provided by the broader membership
  • Staffs three children-focused committees, to include managing meetings schedules, setting agendas, writing minutes, leading discussion and promoting each committee's agenda both within and outside the committee, and conducts follow up as necessary
  • Assists with the preparation and development of public policy briefing materials
  • Maintains close working relations with and participates in meetings with key stakeholders (e.g., state agencies, health plans, coalition partners, and other associations)
  • Manages relationship with the National Association for Children's Behavioral Health (NACBH)
  • Works closely with VP of Mental Health to represent providers who are subject to state's Medication Administration Program (MAP)
  • Engages in special or time-limited initiatives that are child focused
  • Reviews and summarizes proposed and final child service reimbursement rates established by the state
  • Advocates for members regarding identified workforce issues and barriers

Member Services

  • Plans, markets, and executes all ABH-sponsored events and trainings in collaboration with the Business Manager, including ABH's annual Salute to Excellence
  • Develops, applies, and monitors Continuing Education accreditation for association trainings for clinical disciplines (e.g., LICSW, LADC, CADC, LMHC, LMFT) as need. This includes distribution of certificates
  • Acts as Membership Coordinator, to include: identifying and engaging potential members, and coordinating new member engagement/orientation
  • Maintains and enhances positive relations with current members, promotes increased member engagement, and addresses member needs, questions, and concerns (acts as an ombudsman for members)
  • Develops marketing, branding, and collateral materials for business development activities and association events
  • Maintains and regularly updates the ABH website
  • Serves as primary contact for ABH consultants for web-design, E-Health/Massachusetts Standardized Documentation Project (MSDP)
  • Manages and maintains member benefits, such as Relias Learning

Policy and Systems Integration

  • Staffs the Partnering with Underserved Populations Committee to include: managing meeting schedule, setting agendas, writing minutes, engaging in discussion and promoting the committee’s agenda both within and outside the committee, and conducts follow up as necessary
  • Serves as the point person for providers and certified vendors of the Massachusetts Standardized Documentation Project (MSDP)

Reports to: President/CEO

Qualifications Required

  • Master's degree preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of prior related work experience in a human services or government environment
  • Familiarity with children's behavioral health systems is preferred
  • Excellent computer skills, including Outlook and Microsoft Office
  • Competence working with Constant Contact, Joomla, and familiarity with social media outlets preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented, adaptable/creative, organized and demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects and tasks
  • Must be able and willing to travel extensively throughout Massachusetts
  • This position requires a strong strategic sense for organizing both people and events; excellent speaking, writing, organizing and interpersonal skills; and the ability to work as an integral part of a strong team of professionals
  • Comfortable with public speaking
