Job description:
Boston-based government affairs operation seeks a candidate to manage day-to-day tasks of supporting a robust government affairs and government relations firm, including legislative tracking; writing and analyzing reports; drafting correspondence, testimony and presentations; research; managing relationships with various stakeholders (clients, government staffers, trade organizations, etc); and administrative support, as needed. The Government Affairs Manager will support the core lobbying team to understand client needs, monitor ongoing developments in relevant legislative and regulatory matters, and look for opportunities to further client goals and objectives. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit and be interested in learning from top leaders in the industry. This is an early- to mid-career position with significant growth potential into lobbying, government affairs, government administration and/or public relations.
Candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of experience working in the Massachusetts State House and must possess a clear understanding of the state legislative process. Candidate must also possess strong people skills and the ability to build and manage strong relationships with staff, elected officials, government leaders, and company representatives. Candidates must be able to demonstrate resourcefulness, a solutions-oriented work style, a growth mindset, and genuine interest in the government relations industry.
